The Indonesian Psychiatric Association has developed some sections in the association to fulfill the need of members of the association who come from many backgrounds and interests. At present there are 11 sections, namely: schizophrenia, bipolar, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, psycho-geriatric, addiction, forensic, women’s mental health, community psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry (CLP), religion, spiritual and psychiatry and also one psychometric interest group. Recently in November 2011, the Women’s Mental Health section held its first national congress in Surabaya, East Java. Upcoming events will be the Bipolar National Congress in Surabaya, East Java and the WPA Regional Meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali. One of the newest sections, CLP, is considered as a section that will evolve in the future. Before becoming a section in the association, members from this section had actively held some activities and events in their institutions related to education and the promotion of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry especially to medical students, medical doctor and trainee in some cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Ambon. Some of the activities were made up by collaboration between each institution where a member of the section becomes the faculty member. We hope collaboration in the future will include more medical specialists who have relationship in the development of CLP in Indonesia.
