Psychiatry, Medicine and Primary Care

The Section on Psychiatry, Medicine and Primary Care is working with members of the Section on Education in Psychiatry on developing a training program for non-psychiatrists to work in Primary Care settings to provide mental health care. The program is focusing on LMIC and will be provided in-country. Telepsychiatry is being considered as a potential way to provide psychiatric consultation. Efforts have been made to partner with WHO and regional centers to establish a tiered, sustainable training program. WPA members with interest and prior experience in this type of activity are encouraged to contact Prof. Baron to share ideas and consider participating in the project.
