New RANZCP President
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is very pleased to announce Dr. Murray Patton as the new RANZCP President. Dr Patton takes on the role of President of the College after serving two years as President-Elect; his term will end in mid-2015.
Dr. Patton is committed to continuing the RANZCP’s priority to increase the College’s international partnerships and collaborations in line with the College’s Strategic Plan. As part of this commitment Dr. Patton has recently visited and met with psychiatric and mental health associations in the Asia Pacific region as well as travelling to the United Kingdom to further strengthen the RANZCP’s international partnerships.
The RANZCP’s 2012-2014 Strategic Plan clearly highlights the importance of engagement internationally, by stating that the RANZCP will “Continue to develop links and leadership with international organisations and colleagues in South East Asia and the Asia Pacific region and advance formal alliances and projects in partnership with the UK and Canadian Royal Colleges and in the USA”.
