News from the American Psychiatric Association (APA): The APA Research Colloquium for Junior Investigators

The APA Research Colloquium for Junior Investigators will be held during the 2011 APA Annual Meeting in Honolulu, HI on Sunday May 15, 2011. The topics that have been selected for this year's colloquium are:

  • Substance Abuse from Neurobiology to Epidemiology and Treatment
  • Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Neurobiology to Epidemiology and Treatment
  • Psychotic Disorders from Neurobiology to Epidemiology and Treatment

The Research Colloquium for Junior Investigators is a one day workshop to be held as part of the APA annual meeting activities.  A total of 24 junior investigators will be selected, including residents, research fellows, and junior faculty.  Under this format, junior investigators who are starting a research career are assigned to small groups of five participants and two mentors where mentees present their research and receive advice from the two senior faculty mentors.  The Research Colloquium has been offered since 1996 and to date more than 600 junior investigators have participated.  

Each participant will receive a $1,000 stipend.  The application deadline is November 15, 2010.
