The International Society of Affective Disorders (ISAD) held its 5th Biennial Conference in Vancouver, Canada on 16-19 April 2010. The conference format was a mixture of plenary lectures, symposia, oral communications and posters.
Despite being effected by the volcanic disruption in Iceland the conference went ahead as planned and over 300 delegates from 36 countries enjoyed excellent presentations on topics as diverse as treatment resistant depression, diet and nutrition and the CANMAT guidelines.
Poster sessions gave young researchers a great opportunity to showcase their work and the well attended oral communications sessions sparked lively discussions.
The delegates had fantastic networking opportunities and took part in an informal scientific speed-dating session! The gala dinner, held at the Vancouver aquarium, included an amazing display from the dolphins.
The conference received CME accreditation from the University of British Columbia and European Accreditation Committee in CNS as well as receiving co-sponsorship from the WPA.
ISAD’s next conference will be held in London, UK in 2012 (Website: www.isad.org.uk).
