" Professor Eliot Sorel, M.D., D.F.A.P.A., Founder and Chairman of the Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution Section of the WPA, was one of the speakers along with Prime Minister Adrian Nastase of Romania at the National Press Club in Washington on the occasion of the Romanian Broadcasting Company's ceremonial opening of their headquarters at the National Press Club. Professor Sorel emphasized in his speech the extraordinary historical contexts and convergence of this event with the 500th anniversary of Stephen the Great's death, one of Romania's and Europe's greatest leaders, Romania's accession to NATO this spring and its presiding the UN Security Council this month."

"President Ion Iliescu of Romania decorated Professor Eliot Sorel, M.D., D.F.A.P.A., Chairman, Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution Section WPA with the Star of Romania, Order of Commander in a formal ceremony at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest on Tuesday, January 20th, 2004, in recognition of Professor Sorel's exceptional merits and outstanding contributions to Romania, Romanian culture, science and medicine".

"Professor Fernando Lolas and Professor Eliot Sorel, members of the WPA Conflict Management and Resolution Section participated in the first WHO/PAHO meeting on Ethical Guidelines Regarding Experimentation on Human Subjects. The meeting was chaired by Professor Lolas,Director of PAHOīS Bioethics Division, it took place in Santiago de Chile, October 15-17, with participants from Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, Europe and Africa. Professor Sorelīs paper was on "Validity, Specificity and Reliability of Informed Consent".

"Eliot Sorel, M.D., D.F.A.P.A., Founder and Chairman of the Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution Section recently visited Romania where he met with President Ion Iliescu, Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and was keynote speaker at Casa NATO in Bucharest with the theme " Homeland and Global Public Health Security Post 9/11".

As Section Chairman and in tandem with Professor John Gaddis, leader of the Grand Strategy program at Yale University, Professor Sorel extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister Adrian Nastase to lecture in the Grand Strategy program this autumn. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation and plans are under way for his visit at Yale at the time of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September".
