The outstanding scientific programme of the 15th World Congress of Psychiatry is now available on the Congress website (www.wpa-argentina2011.com.ar). It was the biggest and most important international congress on psychiatry that ever took place in the Czech Republic and was fully prepared by local organizers.

The 13th World Congress of Psychiatry was held in Cairo, Egypt from 10-15 September 2005. This was the first time in the 55 year history of the WPA that the World Congress of Psychiatry was held in the African continent, in the Middle East and in Egypt.

This was the first time ever that the World Congress of Psychiatry was held in Asia, the huge and contrasting region which houses half of mankind. The formidable complexity of the East met the West, with the North and the South intersecting as well, towards a global alliance for mental health.

The XI. World Congress of Psychiatry took place in Hamburg from the 6th to the 11th of August, 1999.This ecumenical encounter was attended by over 8000 participants who came together from 117 different countries. Recent scientific findings and health care proposals were discussed in 583 scientific sessions, including a special track for young psichiatrists.

The X. World Congress of Psychiatry took place in Madrid from the 23rd to the 28th of August, 1996. It has been widely regarded as a highly sucessful World Congress with a record attendance of over 11,000 participants from 112 countries.
