My WPA Research Fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology, Centre for Public Health, Institute of Psychiatry (IOP), Kings College, London started on 26 April 2010 and ended on 29 April 2011. On arrival at the IOP, I was warmly received at the Department, introduced to the members of staff and shown my desk with an internet ready computer and other materials I would need for my fellowship training.

Report on Activities of "WPA Bipolar Disorder Fellowship" by Jun Chen, M.D., Ph.D.

From February 20th of 2010 to February 18th of 2011, I completed one-year WPA Bipolar Research Fellowship training in the Mood Disorders Program of the Department of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University. The training was focused on phenomenology and therapeutics of bipolar disorders.

The World Psychiatric Association, as part of its Action Plan 2008-2011, has launched a programme of research fellowships for early-career psychiatrists from low- or lower-middle income countries, in collaboration with internationally recognized Centers of Excellence in Psychiatry. Within this programme, the World Psychiatric Association is funding a research fellowship at the Department of Psychiatry & Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
