We report the World Psychiatric Association Regional Meeting. This meeting was held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from November, 3^rd to 5^th of 2011. The main theme of the meeting was “Asian mental health: Current and future prospective” It was a good opportunity for us to share the mental health promotion in Asia with different experts from all over the world.

During the WPA Regional Meeting in Cairo, January 2011, the Early Career Psychiatrists section of the Egyptian Psychiatric association (EECP), in collaboration with the WPA and the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), arranged a symposium entitled "The Mental Health Gap in Addiction".

The original meeting was initiated by the Swedish Eastern Europe Committee (Assoc. Professor Jerker Hanson), involving young psychiatrists (YPs) from Lithuania, Sweden, Belarus, and Russia in Kaliningrad in May 2009.

The Swedish Eastern Europe Committé (SEEC/ÖEK) has for many years been involved in projects in Eastern Europe, and an effort has been made to address specifically needs and concerns of young psychiatrists.
