Prof. Afzal Javed, President, WPA, looks back over his first year of presidency
The end of the World Psychiatric Association's (WPA) 21st World Congress of Psychiatry, marked the completion of my first year of Presidency for WPA. With this milestone, it gives me the opportunity to look back over the last year and appreciate everything we have achieved, particularly during this difficult period.. The pandemic has profoundly affected all aspects of our daily lives, and like all others, WPA has had to adapt their activities and learn to work in new and innovative ways.
The President's Annual Report summarises the ways in which we have tackled these challenges together and highlights what has been achieved, around the world and by all WPA components.
I look forward to my next year with confidence, remaining fully committed to fulfilling the WPA’s triennium’s goals! Let's shape the future of psychiatry and mental health together.
