The Nomination Process for 2023 WPA Elections is now open

Please find below information relating to the forthcoming elections for all open positions on the WPA Executive Committee as well as for the 18 Zonal Representatives that will make up the WPA Board for the 2023-2026 triennium. The elections for EC members and Zonal Representatives  will be held during the World Congress in Vienna at the General Assembly on 30 September 2023.   Successful candidates will take office immediately after the General Assembly.

Please note that in no case may the immediate successor to the same position be elected from the same country.

​

The following positions are open for election:

WPA Executive Committee

President-Elect

Secretary-General

Secretary for Education and Science

Secretary for Scientific Sections

Zonal Representatives

​

The  Zonal Representatives for  Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific,  having served six years, are not eligible for re-election.  The remaining Zonal Representatives are all eligible for re-election.

​

The President has written to all Member Societies seeking nominations. Below you can find all the necessary paperwork including:

  4. Clustering of Member Societies into WPA Regions and Zones

Please note that candidates must be nominated by the President and Secretary of their Member Society.

The deadline for nominations is 31 March 2023

​

A completed Nomination Form must be sent by surface mail or email by 31 March  2023 (date posted) to: Dr. Afzal Javed, Chair of the Nominations Committee, WPA Secretariat, Geneva University Psychiatric Hospital, Bâtiment Les Voirons, 2 Chemin du Petit Bel-Air, 1226 Thônex, Geneva, Switzerland. The nominee should send by mail or e-mail by the same deadline a brief CV (max. 800 words) and a statement outlining how the nominated individual can fulfill the job description (max. 500 words).
