About

Psychoneuroendocrinology is an area of growing interest developed in the interface between different medical specialties, such as psychiatry, neurology and endocrinology, with the aim to study and better understand their reciprocal effects. More recently, with the addition of immunology, it developed into a wider field, worldwide known as psychoneuroimmunendocrinology (PNIE).

As an integral area of psychiatry, the development of PNIE is aimed at studying the reciprocal effects between psychological factors, the relationship between the nervous, endocrine and immune systems, and their consequent effects on mental health. Research in the field of PNIE is aimed at better understand the molecular, genetic, biological and psychological bases underlying different physiopathological processes, with the purpose to develop more comprehensive diagnostic criteria and more effective preventive and therapeutic strategies.

Our Section is opened to cooperate with all other Sections of the WPA to build bridges with all the professional community all over the world, to create and develop together a stronger scientific, academic and human relationship.
