Pharmacopsychiatry
Pharmacopsychiatry is the study and the use of medications in treating psychiatric conditions. Psychiatric neuroscience and basic pharmacology are the foundation of pharmacopsychiatry. Clinical research in pharmacopsychiatry includes randomized clinical trials, observational studies, e.g., on drug safety, and meta-analyses on the efficacy of psychiatric drug treatments.
Pharmacopsychiatry also includes pharmacovigilance, pharmaco-genetics and therapeutic drug monitoring. The Section of Pharmacopsychiatry desires to reach a larger community of mental health experts to improve evidence-based psychiatry and safety of psychiatric treatments.
