WPA’s 66 scientific sections cover practically every aspect of psychiatry. Each Section brings together psychiatrists from across the world with specialist knowledge or interest in the relevant discipline, group or practice area, ensuring a diverse view to any research or other scientific work undertaken.  The Sections enjoy a great degree of independence within the framework of the WPA Statutes and By-Laws.  They produce symposia, publications, educational programs and consensus statements.  

The Secretary for Sections supervises and guides the work of the sections, coordinating and facilitating inter-sectional collaboration as well as collaboration with WPA members and other stakeholders.
