Psychoneuroendocrinologyconstitutes a scientific discipline developed in the interface between medical specialties, such as psychiatry, neurology and endocrinology, with the aim to study and better understand their reciprocal interactions. More recently, with the inclusion of immunology, it developed into psychoneuroimmunendocrinology (PNIE).

As an integral part of psychiatry, PNIE is aimed at studying the reciprocal effects between psychological processes, the relationship between the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems, and their consequent effects on mental health, including cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects. Research in the field of PNIE is aimed at better understanding the molecular, genetic, biological and psychological bases underlying physiopathological processes, with the aim to develop more comprehensive diagnostic criteria and more effective therapeutic strategies.

Our Section is open to cooperate with all other Sections of the WPA to build bridges with the professional community all over the world, to create and develop together a stronger scientific, academic and human relationship.
