Deadline has been extended to submit your nominations for WPA Jean Delay 2026!

We are pleased to share that the deadline for nominations for the 2026 WPA Jean Delay Prize until the 16th of February 2026!

Known as psychiatry’s most prestigious award, the Jean Delay Prize is conferred triennially by the WPA during the World Congress of Psychiatry. The prize bears the name of the first president of the WPA and commemorates his significant contributions to the practice of psychiatry in the 20th century.

The Prize was established in 1999 to honour distinguished colleagues who have:

    1. made a noteworthy contribution to the biological, psychological or social aspects of psychiatry, or;
    2. built useful bridges between them.

The award winner is selected by an international jury of experts and is invited to deliver a plenary lecture at the 26th WPA World Congress of Psychiatry in Stockholm, from 23 September to 26 September 2026.

The new closing date for nominations is now the 16th February 2026

Applicants should consider the following Selection Criteria before making nominations:

1. Staff of pharmaceutical companies are not eligible for the Prize.
2. Members of the WPA Executive Committee and the Jury of the Jean Delay Prize are not eligible for the Prize.
3. In cases where an individual is nominated for their work on a specific project, that project shall not be related to a pharmaceutical product.
4. A full disclosure will be requested of every applicant, including details of any significant financial interests in any projects related to any nominations made for the Prize.

With only 16 days left, please do not delay in submitting your nomination for this prestigious prize.

All completed nomination forms should be either posted or emailed to the WPA Secretariat's Office, details of which can be found on the nomination form.
