World Psychiatric Association (WPA) announces fellowships (Travel Awards) for psychiatric residents, trainees and medical students to attend the WPA Thematic Congress in Abu Dhabi, UAE
The WPA has announced fellowships (Travel Awards) for psychiatric residents, trainees and medical students to attend the WPA Thematic Congress in Abu Dhabi, UAE later this year (5-7th of May 2023). There are two separate prestigious awards, one for all residents and trainees in psychiatry and one for all medical students from the Gulf / Middle East Region.
The award for the residents and trainees in psychiatry asks candidates to submit published international research (done by the applicant themselves (master or doctorate degree thesis or original research), published in an international psychiatric journal in 2022 within the field of biological or social psychiatry).
Whereas the award for the medical students invites applicants to submit an essay on the theme “Reflections on Current and Future Innovations in Mental Health”.
Both fellowship awards offer the successful candidates the opportunity to attend the WPA Thematic Congress in 5-7th of May 2023 in Abu Dhabi (air travel, registration and accommodation).

All submissions must be submitted to Professor Ahsan Nazeer, Division Chief of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at Sidra Medicine, Qatar at anazeer@sidra.org by the 10th of March 2023. Please include “WPA Thematic Congress Award, Abu Dhabi 2023” in the subject heading.

Residents and Trainees in Psychiatry award:
All submissions must be emailed to Professor Tarek Okasha, Director of the WPA Collaborating Centre for Training and Research, Okasha Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University Cairo, Egypt at tarek.okasha@med.asu.edu.eg by the 15th of March 2023. Please include “WPA Thematic Congress Award, Abu Dhabi 2023” in the subject heading.
