The WPA has announced fellowships (Travel Awards) for psychiatric residents, trainees and medical students to attend the WPA Thematic Congress in Abu Dhabi, UAE later this year (5-7th of May 2023). There are two separate prestigious awards, one for all residents and trainees in psychiatry and one for all medical students from the Gulf / Middle East Region. The award for the residents and trainees in psychiatry asks candidates to submit published international research (done by the applicant themselves (master or doctorate degree thesis or original research), published in an international psychiatric journal in 2022 within the field of biological or social psychiatry).

The WPA Jean Delay Prize is one of psychiatry’s most prestigious awards. Conferred triennially by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) at its World Congress of Psychiatry. The Prize bears the name of the first president of the WPA and commemorates his own significant contributions to the practice of psychiatry in the 20th century. The Prize was established in 1999 to honour distinguished colleagues who have \"1) made a noteworthy contribution to the biological, psychological or social aspects of psychiatry, or 2) built useful bridges between them\".

The WPA and SPF have announced a fellowship (Travel Award) for Undergraduate Medical Students to attend the WPA Regional Congress in Kolkata, India later this year (14th‑16th April 2023). This prestigious award is open to all undergraduate Medical Students that are presently studying in any of the SAARC countries (evidence of student status will be required – e.g., student card etc.). Students are invited to submit a video on the theme of “Importance of Psychiatry in the Medical Field” drawing from their own life/patient/training experience.
