History of Psychiatry
The section on History of Psychiatry is meant to be a forum where psychiatrists and historians debate on international and historical topics about psychiatry.

The Section organises symposia during WPA meetings and serves as a network for research exchange and methodology.

Upon request of other WPA Sections or Components, the Section on History of Psychiatry can provide works that focuses on specific subjects of common interests for psychiatrists worldwide. The Section can also help psychiatrists to gain a historical perspective, and help historians to have a closer look at psychiatric clinical and scientific knowledge.

The section on History of Psychiatry also helps national or sub-regional organisations to edit Anthologies of their local psychiatric literature into English for a wider understanding, as often it has already been published in French (2001), Spanish (2001), Italian (2002), German (2007), Greek (2011), and Russian (2016) Anthologies of Psychiatric Texts.
