The WPA section Psychiatric Electrophysiology and Neurostimulation covers research and clinical application of the entire spectrum of electrophysiological techniques in psychiatry and is highly committed in supporting both visibility and availability of these techniques in clinical routine and psychiatric research.

The origin of psychiatric electrophysiology is the classical EEG recording as first described by Hans Berger in the nineteen-twenties. However, today the field includes the whole range of related techniques to investigate and modulate brain function, including qEEG, evoked potentials, brain stimulation techniques, neurofeedback, and the combination with neuroimaging.

International researchers contribute with their expertise while the activities of the section cover teaching courses, position papers and scientific symposia at psychiatric conferences as well as scientific networking.
